The Paonia Community Kitchen is a shared-use & licensed commercial kitchen operated by Foodhouse LLC.

This space is ran by Mountain Oven's own Chris Sullivan and Dana Whitcomb. We offer this space to fellow producers to create value-added food and agricultural products and develop businesses in an established commercial kitchen environment. This shared resource provides an opportunity for food entrepreneurs and farmers to launch a business without the upfront capital expenses of building a commercial kitchen.

For many years, Mountain Oven shared kitchen spaces. We know firsthand what a vital resource a licensed kitchen is for a business to get up and running in the first several years of operation and how inhibitive access to a licensed facility is.

Facility Amenities

Our aim is to provide affordable access to a well-outfitted commercial kitchen facility for food entrepreneurs and value-added producers to promote a vibrant and diverse local food economy in the North Fork Valley.

Your community kitchen rent pays for a lot more than “rent”, including:

  • Access to a licensed commercial kitchen facility with commercial ovens, flat top, refrigeration, dishwasher, work stations, storage, small wares etc.

  • Commercial refrigerator and freezer use

  • All utilities: electric, gas, water, sewer, trash, recycling, high speed internet

  • Cleaning supplies, paper towels

  • Common area maintenance

  • Equipment/facility maintenance and kitchen management

Long & Short-Term Rates

While each arrangement is tailored to an individual user’s needs and usage, we use the following rates as a starting place for determining rent. Your final rent cost will be determined on an individual basis. We offer hourly and monthly/long-term rates.

Agricultural Producers: To support our local agricultural producers, we may provide discounts from for value-adding to your harvest. This will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

Hourly Rate

Liability Release and Hourly Use Agreement subject to change or termination at any time.

  • $25/hr with 4 hr minimum

  • $20/hr for 8+ hrs

Monthly & Year-Long Leases

1+ Day / Week Use

All long-term rental agreements offer lower hourly rates and receive prioritization for scheduling access over hourly users. We are happy to provide long-term lease agreements for new and growing businesses (3 month, 6 month, 12 month, or longer). These leases provide 1+ day / week of access to the community kitchen.

We prioritize the needs of our long-term weekly users because it is our goal to see businesses showing up to make a go at it and contribute to the vibrancy and vitality of the community kitchen. Weekly users generally have access to the kitchen on a dedicated day or days of the week. 

  • Weekly use rental agreements start as low as $400 / month for one day / week access.

  • Dedicated dry storage, refrigerator, or freezer space will be charged additionally.

  • Workdays longer than 8 hours will be charged additionally.

  • Year-long leases will receive the best rates and pricing.
